India is home to over 1,700 GCCs, valued at USD 46 billion, and estimated to reach around 2400 GCCs valued at USD 110 billion by 2030, according to the Nasscom report. This rapid growth of the Indian GCC sector can be attributed to several key factors.

The rapid expansion of technology has fueled a growing global demand for skilled tech professionals. India, boasting one of the world’s largest technology talent pools, has become a hotspot for global companies seeking to bolster their technological capabilities. This demand is reflected in the increasing number of organizations across industries establishing their Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in the country — a trend that is expected to persist for the foreseeable future. Over 80% of GCC expansion prioritizes building innovative tech capabilities such as AI/ML and data analytics.

A new paradigm is emerging, where companies aim to leapfrog ahead rather than simply catch up. Traditionally, businesses establishing Global Capability Centers (GCCs) would look to industry leaders for guidance, trying to mirror their success. However, today’s forward-thinking landscape challenges this approach, asking: Why not prioritize innovation from the outset instead of following the linear path of growth? The focus is shifting to “day-one innovation,” where GCCs are empowered to skip traditional phases of scaling and optimization.
